The Storyform plugin is acting up. We published this post using storyform back in July, but only the cover page is appearing: http://www.greenheart.info/enroute-ss15. I sent an email to Storyform about the issue, but I also noticed that the Storyform plugin has updates. I wanted to test out the updates on the staging version, but can’t because Storyform is limited to one domain. I wanted to ask if I can go ahead and update the plugin on the live site?

After further testing, there seems to be no easy way to convert the existing storyform posts to the new format - which allows pages - so the choices are to upgrade and rebuild the old post or stay with the current plugin version.

Thanks for testing. For now let's stay with the current plugin. We are ready to publish a new story form ezine today. But let's definitely plan to upgrade and rebuild the old post in the future - perhaps in 2016.

We're creating another digital piece with storyform and there are embedded mp4 videos. Howevever, there are 3 timers showing up on the vidoes and I believe it's due to the storyform plugin. Is there a way to remove this within the current storyform plugin? Here is the link: http://www.greenheart.info/ambassador-scholarship-2015

I think I see the error that you're referring to - on the third video about the lifeguard? - Potentially the problem are caused by an update to YouTube API which is more than likely resolved in the newer version of the plugin - so perhaps our hand will be forced and we'll need to update sooner. If you want me to put in some extra time testing on upgrades, let me know - if not the other option is to stop updates on live - update the plugin on staging and remake the older storyform pages in the new format.

Is it possible to update the storyfrom plugin sooner? I know we planned on mid-January, but wanted to see if this could be updated in the beginning of January. Thanks.

We’ve staged GH.info and updated the plugin, we’ve now waiting to check how this update affected the existing SF articles and what further updates are required to the templates.

Annan has updated the SF articles, but we’re just waiting on some clarification and will deploy the updates as soon as possible.
  • Ray
The updates have not been deployed back to live and we’re tracking a ticket on wordpress.org about issues with the StoryForm plugin: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/bug-report-cant-edit-published-storyform-articles

Update from SF plugin author: “You are right, there seems to be some usability changes we could make, primarily changing “Publish” to “Publish changes”. As for the button being disabled, we currently require that you go to the “Preview” view in order to publish. This is because we believe it is important to see how it will look before it goes out. However, once its been published already I can also see that Publish should be available. Also, you can always jump directly to the regular WordPress editing view by clicking “Edit post metadata” in the upper right instead of going to the Posts view. Now, it sounds like even after making changes, autosaving and then going to the typical WordPress editor page and hitting Update doesn’t change anything. THAT sounds like a bug and we would like access to your staging version to see if we can replicate this. In fact could you make a post that exhibits this behavior and I will take a look at it.”

After working with the SF developers we have enabled post_revisions on the server – WPE disables these by default – and the plugin should now be working as expected.

Hi Murray,
I’m not sure if there’s anything else I need to do for this one. It appears that the storyform pages are working properly now… Let me know if there is still an update to the plugin that needs to happen.

Thanks,
Joanna

I think we’ll need to push the update to StoryForm at the start of January – ideally this will coincide with a block on new content addition, so all the changes can be made on the staging server and pushed back to production without lose of new content.

UPDATE: reformat the Storyforms (total 3) 1/13 or 1/14. GH would like to remove the author and date but suggested to do this after the plugin has been updated.
